When you picture the perfect fall festival, the scene that you’re seeing is set at Lohr’s Orchard. This local institution has been growing fresh fruits and vegetables for the fine folks of Harford County since the 1920s, and continues today as a working farm with plenty of family-friendly events.
Fall means pumpkin and apple picking, plus plenty of autumnal photo ops for the kids. The orchard is open daily for picking, plus offers hayrides on the weekend up to the fields. You can bring your own wagon to carry your haul, and then head back down to the farmer’s market store for fresh-pressed cider, more homegrown vegetables, and other local products to replenish your kitchen at The Yards at Fieldside Village in Aberdeen.
The 2020 season means additional health precautions, so expect longer lines for the hayrides and no pets in the fields. But a trip to Lohr’s Orchard should be a family tradition each year to shop small, enjoy the fresh air, and grab some truly fresh and delicious local foods.
