Located in Gunpowder Estates, Maryland, the Gunpowder Falls State Park Wildlands Loop is a fairly simple hike suitable for both experienced hikers as well as beginners. It’s ease and beautiful scenery–including a peaceful babbling river–make it a perfect hike for the whole family.
Falling Branch Trail to Kilgore Falls
This family-friendly Maryland hike located in Pylesville is an easy to moderate hike that only takes a couple hours and ends in a truly spectacular finish–the second highest vertical waterfall in Maryland! In the warmer months it’s great to work up a bit of a sweat on the trail and get refreshed by a quick dip under the waterfall.
Fort Foote Civil War Ruins
If you are looking for a little history with your hike there is no better place in Maryland than the Fort Foote Civil War Ruins. Located in River Bend Estates, this scenic hike also features civil war era equipment and sites, including cannon emplacements and even civil war bunkers!
Union Mills Hike
Not for the faint of heart! Union Mills Hike is a difficult and strenuous seven mile hike near Advocates Choice, Maryland. Experienced hikers will enjoy working up a sweat on this popular circuit hike, which includes everything from creeks to switchbacks and even more.
